Russian drone hits nine-story building in Kyiv’s Dniprovskyi district, killing woman and injuring children

As of 5:26 p.m., the Kyiv City Military Administration said the number of injured had risen to three. Among them were a 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl.

The city authorities earlier confirmed that a woman was killed in the attack and one other person was injured.

Klitschko said preliminary information indicated that the building had sustained damage. An air raid alert had been declared in Kyiv earlier because of the threat of a jet-powered drone.

Earlier in the day, a Russian drone fell a few hundred meters from residential buildings in the Dniprovskyi district, causing a fire. According to the city military administration, the blaze broke out in a warehouse building.

Officials also said that during the daytime drone attack, another UAV hit a multi-story residential building in the same district, while in Darnytskyi district drone debris fell in an open area.

That morning, a Russian jet-powered drone struck a 24-story building in Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district, damaging apartments on several floors.

During overnight attacks, trucks and a garage caught fire in Darnytskyi and Holosiyivskyi districts, while at another location a two-story nonresidential building was burning.

According to the Kyiv City Military Administration, nine people were injured in the capital overall.

Overnight into Sept. 9, Russia attacked Ukraine with 196 strike drones, including Shahed, Gerbera and Parodiya decoy drones, as well as S8000 Bandorol munitions. Russia also used Iskander-M ballistic missiles. As of 8:30 a.m., Ukrainian air defenses had shot down or suppressed 165 Russian drones, including Shahed, Gerbera, and other types.
