Slobodeniuk was 43. He joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine in May 2024.
He had been an actor at the Chernihiv Oblast Youth Theater and also performed with the Chernihiv Oblast Philharmonic Center of Festivals and Concert Programs.
“The staff of the Chernihiv Oblast Philharmonic Center expresses with deep pain its sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the talented musician, sopilka player and brave Defender of Ukraine, Kostiantyn Slobodeniuk” the Philharmonic Center said in a statement.
“We are proud of Kostiantyn’s many years of creative cooperation with the Academic Song and Dance Ensemble ‘Siverski Kleynody’ and the Concert Performers Collective, and we will preserve our gratitude for his significant contribution to the artistic life of our center. The bright memory of the warrior-artist will forever live in our hearts. Eternal glory to the Hero!”
A farewell ceremony for Slobodeniuk will be held on Sept. 15 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Catherine’s Church in Chernihiv.
Earlier, it was reported that 47-year-old Ukrainian journalist and serviceman Ruslan Rudukan was killed while carrying out a combat mission on the Zaporizhzhya front. On Aug. 28, Ukrainian defender Danylo “Surfer” Smyrnov was also killed at the front.
