Russian strike on Zhytomyr Oblast kills two, injures two

The ministry said fires broke out in a warehouse and a production building in Korosten District. Rescuers had to withdraw to safety because of the threat of additional strikes.

State Emergency Service bomb disposal experts inspected the area for explosive hazards. Firefighters extinguished the fires.

The State Emergency Service said 56 rescuers and 17 units of State Emergency Service equipment were deployed at the scene, along with other emergency services and volunteers from the Ukrainian Red Cross Rapid Response Unit.

Air raid alerts were issued twice in Korosten District that morning because of a drone threat, at 6:49 a.m. and 7:45 a.m.

Russian occupation forces attacked an industrial park in Korosten District on Sept. 17. Zhytomyr Oblast Military Administration head Vitalii Bunechko reported that two people were killed and two others injured in the attack.
