Prosecutor General’s Office claims Kravchenko traveled for PACE event, but no speech appears on official schedule

The meeting Kravchenko referred to is scheduled for Sept. 16. In the official announcement on the Council of Europe website, dated Sept. 8, no speech by Kravchenko is listed.

On Sept. 7, Kravchenko said he had submitted his resignation as Ukraine’s prosecutor general amid reports of possible ties to corruption schemes.

On Sept. 14, the Anti-Corruption Action Center said Kravchenko signed charges against the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) Director Semen Kryvonos in exchange for being allowed to flee abroad and had already left Ukraine.

Kravchenko himself confirmed that he had left the country. He said he had a number of planned meetings, including participation in a hearing of the Parliamentary Network on the situation of Ukrainian children, which is to be held in Paris.

On Sept. 4, Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau said it had carried out a special operation to expose a criminal organization allegedly led by an employee of the Office of the Prosecutor General.

Ukrainska Pravda reported the detention of Serhii Kropyva, head of the cyber department of the Prosecutor General’s Office. NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) said the official may have been involved in protecting a network of fraudulent call centers and in laundering property.

Ukrainska Pravda also reported that NABU and SAPO conducted searches involving Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko, his deputy Mariia Vdovychenko, and Odesa regional governor Oleh Kiper.
