Viktor Tsygankov makes first Ajax appearance against defending champions PSV

Tsygankov came off the bench with Ajax trailing 2-1.

During his time on the pitch, the Ukrainian registered one shot on target, completed 15 of 19 passes and delivered one accurate cross.

Sofascore gave Tsygankov a rating of 6.6 out of 10, the fourth-highest mark among the six Ajax players who came on as substitutes against PSV.

Ajax conceded a third goal late in the match and lost 3-1.

It was Míchel’s team’s first defeat of the season.

Tsygankov joined Ajax from Girona at the end of the summer transfer window, signing a contract through 2029.

The final stage of his spell at the Catalan club was accompanied by controversy.

Reports claimed Tsygankov had refused to come on as a substitute in Girona’s opening Segunda División match against Leganés, which ended 1-1.

His representatives later denied those reports.

Former Karpaty Lviv star Ihor Khudobiak previously discussed whether the controversy surrounding Tsygankov at Girona could affect how he is perceived at Ajax and whether the Ukrainian could eventually return to one of Europe’s top leagues.
