Two vessels refuse to moor in Izmail port in past day due to Russia's attacks
Two ships bound for the port of Izmail for loading have refused to moor, fearing for their safety following Russia’s brutal attack on the port and industrial infrastructure in the area, announced Valeriy Tkachov, Deputy Director of Commercial Department of the Ukrainian Railway.
"Work is underway with grain cargo unloading, but we have some problems... Two captains in a day refused to moor due to the event... everyone knows about it," Interfax-Ukraine quoted Tkachov as saying.
There are 117 vessels in the port of Izmail on Aug. 3, with 20 vessels expected and 21 vessels departing in the next 24 hours, says naval traffic monitoring app, Marine Traffic.
As of July 31, the number of ships in the Izmail port grew to 120 compared to 109 the previous week. There were about 111-113 vessels in the port during the last week.
A total of 40,000 tons of grain intended for African, Chinese, and Israeli markets were destroyed in the last Aug. 2 Russian attack on Ukrainian port infrastructure.
10 houses, 15 apartments, resort buildings, an educational facility, and a Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company office were also damaged.
No military objects were targeted during the attack, Odesa Oblast State Administration head, Oleh Kiper, said.
