Ukraine's real gross domestic product grew 0.6% year over year in the second quarter of 2026, rebounding from a 0.6% decline in the first quarter, according to the State Statistics Service on Aug. 4.
Compared with the previous quarter, seasonally adjusted real GDP grew 0.4% after contracting 0.7% in the previous quarter.
Earlier, Ukraine's Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture estimated real GDP growth at 2.2% in 2025.
In February 2026, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development halved its forecast for Ukraine's economic growth in 2026. In its Regional Economic Prospects report published on Feb. 26, the EBRD projected that Ukraine's real GDP would grow 2.5% in 2026 and accelerate to 4% in 2027, assuming the war continues throughout 2026.
Ukraine's real gross domestic product (GDP) contracted 0.5% year over year in the first quarter of 2026, following growth of 3.0% in the fourth quarter of 2025, 2.1% in the third quarter, 0.7% in the second quarter and 0.8% in the first quarter.
The State Statistics Service later revised its estimate of Ukraine's first-quarter 2026 real GDP decline from 0.5% to 0.6% year over year.
Real GDP contracted 0.6% year over year in the first quarter of 2026 and declined 0.7% from the previous quarter.
The National Bank of Ukraine restored its 2026 real GDP growth forecast to 1.8% — the level projected in January — after lowering it to 1.3% in April.
