After nine months of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the retail sector in Ukraine has recovered to 90.7% of its pre-war levels, Retail Association of Ukraine (RAU) reported on Dec. 9.
Thus, only 9.3% of retailers remain shuttered – a stark contrast to March, when 29.4% of them closed due to the invasion.
An almost complete recovery was registered for pharmacies (99% of pre-war levels), grocery shops (92.9%), and gas stations (92.9%).
RAU noted the dynamic is a very encouraging one, since retail taxes makes a significant portion of Ukraine’s fiscal revenue, and the sector provides employment to a great number of Ukrainians.
