Regional Russian emergency official faces backlash for vicious cancer wish on workers' families
The head of the Emergencies Ministry department in Russia’s Volgograd Oblast, Nikolai Lyubavin, wished that families of disgruntled employees be struck with cancer, Russian Telegram news channel Astra reported on Jan. 8, publishing a video from a conference call.
The source of Lyubavin's anger was an appeal to the prosecutor's office requesting an investigation into potential corruption ties between him and the bank where his wife works.
"They wrote that Otkritie Bank was lobbying, and the prosecutor's office was checking," the Russian official said.
“That his wife works at the bank, that Lyubavin receives preferences and all that. Whoever wrote this, first of all, I wish his hands would dry up and the whole family would get cancer. I will not regret saying this, because, indeed, when people write their infantile, schizophrenic thoughts, they know not what they do.”
