Ukrainian footballers furious after night shelling of Odesa

Some of Ukraine’s biggest football stars have spoken out after seeing the devastation wrought by Russia’s devastating missile attack on the UNESCO-recognized center of Odesa that killed one civilian, injured 22, and destroyed the historic Transfiguration Cathedral.
National team star and current volunteer Roman Zozulia didn’t mince words.
Taking to social media, he labeled Russia “the scum of the modern world”.
“Russia is not a state. Russia is not a nation. They are filth on the world map. Worthless. Killers. Drunks. Fascists. Inhumane beings who care about nothing,” he wrote.
“While they still use holes in the floor or buckets as toilets, they are determined to destroy all that is civilized in other countries.”
“Barbarians of today. Odesa suffered again during the night. Civilians, infrastructure, a cathedral – all targeted.”
“Once again, the trash on Russia TV talks about hitting foreign mercenaries in Ukraine. The destruction of unmanned boats. Apparently, it was all in the cathedral.”
“The scum of the modern world. You will be held accountable for everything!”, wrote Zozulia.
He wasn’t the only national team player incensed by the brutal attack.
National team midfielder Ruslan Malinovsky, who plays for France’s Marseille, also responded to the attack.
Posting before and after photos on Twitter of Odesa’s Transfiguration Cathedral, which was destroyed by a direct hit from a Russian missile in the July 23 attack, he wrote: “Odesa before and after the Russian parasites.”
Former national team star, who played for Karpaty and Dnipro, Artem Fedetskyi, was furious after Russia’s assault on Odesa.
Taking to Instagram to share a screenshot from the Russia 1 TV channel, he geo-tagged Odesa and captioned it with the word “inhumane” to describe the Russians.
“Fu**ing Russian motherfu**ers,“ he wrote, adding the hashtag #russiaisaterroriststate.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
