42,000 Ukrainian women serving with the Armed Forces, ministry says
There are currently 42,000 women
serving in the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, 5,000 of whom are
deployed at the front lines, Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar said in a
Facebook post on May 4.
Maliar commended the work of the gender advisory team of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which is ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men in the army.
“Unfortunately, 107 women have been killed or injured,” the official said.
“Ukrainian women defend the country just as men do.”
Earlier, the Defense Ministry announced that by the end of May 2023, they plan to complete the next stage of testing military uniforms for female servicemembers.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
