Allies reluctant to transfer even a handful more Patriot systems to Ukraine, FM Kuleba says
Western partners are failing to provide
more Patriot
air defense systems to Kyiv, despite having more than 100 of them in their
arsenals, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said in an interview with
Reuters on April 3.
"Our partners have provided various air defense systems, and we appreciate this, but it's simply not enough given the scale of the war," said Kuleba.
According to the minister, Ukraine desperately needs at least five to seven additional Patriot systems to counter relentless Russian air strikes.
He suggested that it's only a matter of political will, and if the West wishes to save their countries from the Russian military threat, it must supply Ukraine with the necessary equipment.
“When I say there will be war in Europe, and missiles will fall on Brussels and other European cities, I am not exaggerating,” Kuleba said.
“This will happen if Ukraine does not win the war against Russia.”
Earlier on April 3, Kuleba, during his visit to Brussels, met with his Polish and Spanish counterparts, Radosław Sikorski and Jose Manuel Albares, to discuss strengthening Ukraine’s air defense capabilities.
