Death toll in Kyiv rises to 34 after Russian missile attack
The death toll from Russia's recent mass missile attack has risen to 34 in Kyiv, Serhiy Popko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, reported on Telegram on July 10.
Emergency rescue and recovery operations in the capital had been completed, Ukraine's State Emergency Service said earlier.
The Russian attack injured 121 people, including 10 children, with 11 individuals rescued.
Thirty-eight people remain hospitalized following the Russian missile strikes on Kyiv, with six in critical condition, Popko said. Six children injured in the attack on the Okhmatdyt Children's Hospital are receiving treatment in pediatric hospitals.
Russia’s massive missile attack on July 8
Russia rained missiles down on Kyiv, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, and other Ukrainian cities on July 8. This attack is one of the largest and most devastating this year.
Ukraine's air defense forces intercepted 30 of 38 incoming missiles, including Kinzhal, Iskander-M, Kh-101, Kalibr, and Kh-59/Kh-69 missiles, Ukrainian Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk reported.
Russia targeted the Okhmatdyt Children's Hospital and struck a high-rise residential building in Kyiv's Shevchenkivskyi district, completely demolishing one entrance in the building.
A later attack on Kyiv partially destroyed a medical center in the Dniprovskyi district, killing eight people.
Damage has been reported in seven Kyiv districts.
Ukraine's State Emergency Service reported 11 fatalities in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast — 10 in Kryvyi Rih and one in Dnipro — and 64 injuries.
A day of mourning was declared in Kyiv and Kryvyi Rih on July 9.
