Moscow floats energy ceasefire ahead of Geneva talks

A possible energy truce between Kyiv and Moscow is expected to be discussed at the Ukraine-U.S.-Russia trilateral meeting in Geneva on Feb. 17–18, Russia’s state propaganda agency TASS claimed on Feb. 16, citing an unnamed “Western source.”
“The issue of an energy truce will undoubtedly be raised” during the negotiations, the source said.
Earlier in the day, the Presidential Office head Kyrylo Budanov reported that the Ukrainian delegation had departed for Geneva for the next round of trilateral peace talks.
On Feb. 11, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russia was not yet ready for the energy truce proposed by the U.S. team at the previous meeting.
