Estonian foreign minister calls Russian strike on Pryluky ‘the face of terrorism’
The Russian missile strike on the city of Pryluky in
Chernihiv Oblast is “the face of terrorism,” Estonian Foreign Minister Margus
Tsahkna said in
a post on X on June 5.
Tsahkna highlighted that one of the rescuers had returned to
his hometown to help clear the aftermath of the Russian attack. As a result of
the strike, his wife, daughter, and one-year-old grandson were killed.
“Let that sink in. This is the face of terrorism,” he said.
Russian
forces launched a massive attack on Pryluky overnight on June 5, killing at
least five people, including a one-year-old child. Another six were wounded.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded to the
strike, saying that one of the emergency workers arrived to deal with the aftermath
only to find his own house had been hit by a Shahed drone.
Ukraine’s Patrol Police reported that officer Daryna Shyhyda
was killed in the attack, along with her mother and son.
The Pryluky City Council declared June 5–6 days of mourning
to honor those killed in the Russian strike.
