Russian advance in Donetsk Oblast: Gains near Sokil and Novooleksandrivka

Russian forces have advanced near the village of Sokil and in the village of Novooleksandrivka, Pokrovsk district, Donetsk Oblast, the DeepState monitoring group reported on Telegram on June 16.
The day before, on June 15, the U.S.-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW) also reported the enemy advance near the southeast and further into southern Sokil during a mechanized battle, based on geolocation data of the recently posted footage.
The Russian troops are also continuing their advance northwest of Avdiivka near the villages of Novooleksandrivka, Kalynove, Novopokrovske, and Yevhenivka.
The Pokrovsk front in Donetsk Oblast remains the epicenter of the most intense combat, the Ukrainian General Staff reported on the same day. The Russians carried out 12 airstrikes with 19 guided aerial bombs and initiated 547 shelling incidents on Ukrainian positions. They also deployed 18 kamikaze drones for attacks.
