Hungary bans access to 12 Ukrainian news sites, including NV
The Hungarian government approved a decision on Sept. 29 to
block access to NV and 11 other Ukrainian news websites within its borders, according
to an announcement by Gergely Gulyás, chief of staff to Prime Minister Viktor
Orbán.
Gulyás claimed the action was a “mirror response” to
Ukraine’s earlier restrictions.
The blocked Ukrainian websites include:
- NV.ua
- oboz.ua
- anons-zak.com.ua
- ungvar.uz.ua
- zakarpattya.net.ua
- pravda.com.ua
- hromadske.ua
- tsn.ua
- lb.ua
- insiderinfo.com.ua
- uaonline.com.ua
- eurointegration.com.ua
Previously, Ukraine had blocked
15 websites based in Hungary, Romania, Moldova, and Greece, accusing them of
spreading Russian propaganda. The restrictions were initiated by Ukraine’s SBU
Security Service.
Among the banned Hungarian outlets were Origo and Demokrata.
These platforms had reportedly promoted disinformation
narratives, including false claims about Ukrainian “terrorist activity,”
mockery of international support for Ukraine, portrayals of the EU and NATO as
fractured and weak, criticism of Western sanctions, and conspiracy theories
aligned with Kremlin messaging.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
