Kyiv receives third tranche of $880 million from IMF under EEF program

Kyiv has received $880 million from the InternationalMonetary Fund (IMF) as the third tranche of financial assistance under the EFF
Extended Fund Facility loan program, Ukraine’s PM Denys Shmyhal
reported on Telegram on March 26.
The funds will be used to cover priority budget expenditures
and maintain macro-financial stability.
“Ukraine continues to successfully fulfill its obligations
to its partners,” he wrote.
“We are already preparing for the next review of the
program. We are grateful to the IMF for its support and cooperation.”
On March 21, the IMF Executive Board approved an $880
million tranche under the EFF program.
Ukraine has successfully completed four key requirements for
the third review, including the development of a national revenue strategy, the
establishment of a public investment management roadmap, the development of
revenue mobilization measures for the 2024 State Budget, and the adoption of
legislation to strengthen the institutional autonomy and increase the
efficiency of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO).
Kyiv has already received three financing tranches totaling
about $4.5 billion, including $2.7 billion last April and $890 million last
June. A total of $5.4 billion in budget support for Ukraine is expected under
the program in 2024.
On Jan. 12, the IMF disclosed the amount of
funding Ukraine requires in 2024.
