Destruction and injuries in Kherson in another Russian attack
The southern Ukrainian city of Kherson was struck by a series of explosions on the morning of Oct. 28, Roman Mrochko, the head of the city Military Administration reported on his Telegram channel.
There was artillery shelling in the Korabelnyi district of the city, resulting in casualties and damage to private residential properties, Mrochko said.
The impact led to fires in a private residence. An 80-year-old woman sustained head injuries and a concussion, and she has received medical attention.
Oleksandr Prokudin, the head of Kherson Oblast State Administration, confirmed that the Russian forces fired 20 shells at Kherson earlier, on Oct. 27.
Fifteen artillery rounds struck populated areas in Kherson Oblast, including residential neighborhoods. Administrative buildings and stores in Kherson also came under fire. Over the course of a day, 11 people in the Kherson city itself and the oblast sustained injuries.
A powerful explosion was heard in Kherson during an air raid alert prompted by the ballistic threat on Oct. 27.
Reports indicated that six people were injured, and there was significant damage and partial destruction of private residences and other civilian infrastructure. The State Emergency Service reported that two women, aged 76 and 83, had been trapped under the rubble of one of the buildings, but rescuers successfully dug them out.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
