Kremlin comments on drone incident near Zelenskyy’s plane in Moldova

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov commented on an incident involving a drone near Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s plane in Moldova, Russian state media reported on Sept. 10.
"As for the supposed threat to the plane, there was none. The Ukrainians themselves acknowledged this," Peskov claimed.
On Sept. 8, Zelenskyy and his wife arrived in Norway to attend the funeral of King Harald and hold talks with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre. Støre later said the Ukrainian president's plane had nearly been hit by a drone while taking off from Moldova.
Moldova's ambassador to the United States, Vladislav Kulminski, suggested that the Russian drone may have deliberately entered Moldovan airspace while Zelenskyy's plane was at Chisinau airport. However, he stressed that it was too early to say whether the incident was a deliberate attempt to target the president.
Sources in the Ukrainian President's Office also told Suspilne that Zelenskyy's plane and the Russian drone that entered Moldova were not in the air at the same time. Ukraine monitored the drone's flight and waited until the UAV disappeared from radar, the sources said.
