Kyiv Metro gets another batch of metro carriages from Warsaw
Kyiv’s metro is slowly, but surely, moving from its Soviet-era stock to European carriages thanks to the support of its allies, like Poland’s Warsaw Metro.
Kyiv Metro has received another batch of metro carriages from Warsaw Metro, Kyiv Metro CEO Viktor Brahinskyi confirmed on Facebook on June 13.
In total, Kyiv has already received 12 carriages out of 60 planned, he added.
“For our company, this is great support from our European colleagues as most of the rolling stock running on the capital’s metro lines was manufactured in Soviet times,” Brahinskyi said.
The Polish carriages will primarily be used as technical donors to replace equipment, components, and parts of the existing fleet of carriages of the Kyiv Metro during their maintenance and repair, he added.
