Latvia to transfer its helicopter fleet to Ukraine – PM Krisjanis Karins

Latvia
is in the final stages of preparing to hand over all of its military
helicopters to Ukraine, Latvian Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins said at the
Ukraine Recovery Conference in London on June 21.
“All our Stinger (anti-aircraft) missiles are now in Ukraine,” said Karins, outlining the extent of military assistance his country has already provided Kyiv with.
“We have a fleet of helicopters, and all of them — the last ones are currently being repainted to be fit for use and for aesthetics – we're dispatching to Ukraine.”
He noted that the Latvia has already spent more than 1% of its GDP in military assistance to Ukraine.
Karins also emphasized that Latvia is providing training for Ukrainian soldiers and supplying the Ukrainian Armed Forces with ammunition and drones.
“Our friends, the Ukrainians, are freedom fighters, and we now stand for freedom,” the PM concluded.
Previously, Latvia decided to send humanitarian aid to Ukraine, helping to deal with Russia blowing up the Kakhovka HPP dam in Kherson Oblast in early June.
