Ukrainian MP slams dismissal of Ukrenergo chief, cites corruption
Western donors will react negatively to the decision to dismiss Ukrenergo chief Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, Ukrainian MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak said in a post on Telegram on Sept. 2.
"One of the most competent people in the energy sector—the head of Ukrenergo—has been dismissed," said the lawmaker.
“First, there was a demand at the meeting of the [Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s] Staff, then the Supervisory Board was manipulated. Then 4 to 2 and that's it. Kudrytskyi is dismissed. Let me remind you that Ukrenergo is the only one that properly built protective structures and timely stocked up on additional equipment for swift replacement. But these d***s will try to claim that this was the problem."
Zheleznyak also said that "Halushchenko-Shurma-Myroniuk have long wanted to dismiss him. The real reason is the animalistic desire to control all financial flows:
- 100 billion hryvnias ($2.4 billion) annually;
- 1.5 billion euros ($1.7 billion) in credit lines.
They have seized NEURC (National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission -ed.), and with the addition of Ukrenergo, the construction of the corruption pyramid can be considered complete. I congratulate our corrupt officials on this."
The Supervisory Board of Ukrenergo voted to dismiss Volodymyr Kudrytskyi from his position as the head of the company on Sept. 2.
Three state-appointed members of the Supervisory Board—Yuriy Tokarskyi, Oleksandr Baraniuk, and Yuriy Boyko—along with one independent member, Roman Pionkovskyi, voted for the dismissal. The other two independent members voted against.
Kudrytskyi will remain in his position as the head of Ukrenergo until Sept. 4. After his dismissal, current board member Oleksiy Brekht will assume the duties of the acting head of Ukrenergo.
