Musk mocks Zelenskyy for asking for aid, neglects to mention the billions in aid he’s received from the US government
American billionaire and owner of X (Twitter), Elon Musk, apparently got bored again and started posting memes about Russia’s war on Ukraine.
This time he targeted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy with a juvenile meme.
"When five minutes have passed and you still haven't asked for a billion dollars of help," reads the message on Musk’s meme, posted on Zelenskyy's tense face.
Apparently, being invaded by a nuclear-armed state and a member of the UN Security Council doesn’t warrant soliciting support from international partners to ensure your nation remains alive.
The irony that Musk’s other companies, including SpaceX and Tesla, have received over $5 billion in US government support was apparently lost on the South African, whose family made millions off of emerald mining during the Apartheid era.
Musk’s behavior highlights his investment" in "war, genocide, murder of the free world, escalation, and the right to impunity,” said Presidential Office head Mykhailo Podolyak.
"Mocking Ukraine today is an unconditional encouragement of Russian propaganda, which justifies mass violence and destruction,” Podolyak said.
“Unfortunately, some significant media figures are unable to realize the impact of their actions as they are thousands of kilometers away from the epicenter of the war. They are unable to imagine what daily bombings and the cries of parents who lose their children are like.”
Musk’s post solicited a torrent of criticism from Ukrainians around the world, including celebrities and the Dynamo Kyiv football club.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
