NATO member states are preparing tougher measures against Russian spies in response to Moscow's sabotage and cyberattacks, said NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on June 13.
"We've seen several examples of sabotage, arson attempts, cyber attacks and disinformation," Secretary General said.
He added that NATO defense ministers in Brussels "will review Russia's campaign of hostile actions against NATO Allies."
According to the secretary general, they will also discuss NATO's response options, including protection of critical maritime and cyber infrastructure, as well as "tighter restrictions on Russian intelligence officers across the Alliance."
Earlier, the FT reported that Russia is actively resuming its espionage war with Western countries and has already created a network of spies that is larger than one that existed during the Cold War.
The article states that the priorities of Russian intelligence services remain the same as before the full-scale war: stealing classified information, increasing disagreements within NATO, and undermining support for Ukraine.
At the same time, Russia's methods have become more inventive.
