Newly created Russian army corps to fail in war against Ukraine, says expert

The recently formed 3rd Army Corps that Russia plans to send to the front in Ukraine will not have any success, the head of military research at Ukrainian think-tank Razumkov Centre, Mykola Sunhurovskyi, told NV on Aug. 28.
“The fact that they (Russians) are trying to transfer it partly to the east and partly to the south suggests that no success will come from this,” he said.
“There would be some success when it was used as a punching fist, that is, in general.”
“I expected it would be transferred to Belarus. If it were transferred there, it would actually be a threat.”
According to Sunhurovskyi, the formation of this body began back in June, but the manning was slow, without much success. However, its composition and condition are currently unknown, the expert said.
The Ukrainian intelligence on July 29 announced Russia’s plans to create the 3rd Army Corps by mid-August.
Analysts of the Conflict Intelligence Team (CIT) said on Aug. 27 that Russia was transferring the 3rd Army Corps to the front.
At the same time, U.S.-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW) said the recently formed 3rd Army Corps would not be able to fundamentally change the situation on the battlefield.
