No Russian occupiers present in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast
Russian occupation forces are not present in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, as Russian troops have been trying to reach the Donetsk-Dnipropetrovsk administrative border since late April, Viktor Trehubov, spokesman for the Khortytsia operational-strategic group, said on Suspilne on June 11.
Russian forces are attempting to reach the administrative border of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast from the Novopavlivka and Pokrovsk directions. The latter, which remains one of the most difficult areas on the front, sees more than 50 combat clashes per day.
Trehubov, a Ukrainian official, noted that Russian troops continue to employ the tactics of small infantry groups. A team of five or six occupiers attempts to “probe” sections of the front, gain a foothold in buildings or forested areas, and then wait for reinforcements.
On June 10, the Deep State project reported that the Russian invaders featured in a video circulated by “military bloggers” from the Russian Federation, claiming a “breakthrough into Dnipropetrovsk Oblast,” had been eliminated.
On June 9, the Russian so-called “military corps” released a video showing a supposed “breakthrough of Russian attack aircraft into Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.” The video, captured by a drone, shows three Russian soldiers climbing over a small ditch and entering a forest area along the border between the Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts.
On June 8, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that Russian units had allegedly reached the western border of the self-declared “DPR” and were “continuing their offensive on the territory of Dnipropetrovsk.”
However, Ukrainian General Staff representative Andriy Kovalev dismissed this claim as Russian disinformation.
On June 9, Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin press secretary, suggested that “the offensive in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast is part of efforts to create a buffer zone.” This statement was later debunked by the Center for Countering Disinformation at Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council.
“As of the morning of June 9, all information from the Russians, including Peskov's statements about their offensive in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, is false,” wrote Andriy Kovalenko, head of Ukraine's Central Intelligence Agency, on Telegram.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
