North Macedonia signs declaration supporting Ukraine's EU and NATO membership

Macedonian PM Talat Xhaferi signed a joint declaration endorsing Ukraine's
membership in the EU and NATO, the President’s Office announced on Feb. 28.
The agreement, inked during the Ukraine-Southeast Europe Summit in Albania, confirms North Macedonia's support for Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic aspirations and its eventual invitation to NATO.
The document condemns Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine and the war crimes committed by Russian troops. It also endorses North Macedonia's participation in implementing Ukraine's peace formula and promises participation in Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction.
The countries also reaffirmed their mutual support for EU membership for both Ukraine and North Macedonia.
The 75th-anniversary NATO summit will be held in Washington from July 9-11, 2024. In January, Zelenskyy expressed hope for decisions at the summit regarding the transfer of new air defense systems to Ukraine and concrete steps towards the country's NATO membership.
