Zelenska urges EU, US to help shoot down Russian missiles

First Lady Olena Zelenska responded to a massive Russian attack on Ukraine overnight into July 30, calling on international partners to help shoot down Russian aerial targets.
In a Telegram post, Zelenska described the aftermath of the attack, including the deaths of a large family in the village of Radushne near Kryvyi Rih, writing that the strike likely killed eight children and two adults.
"Three children were pulled from the rubble already dead," the first lady wrote. “The Russian strike also killed the parents — 47-year-old Artem and his 41-year-old wife, Olena. The deaths of five more children have not been officially confirmed; forensic examination will be required. The Russians killed an entire family. Again.”
Zelenska also described the scene in Lviv, where residents worked alongside rescuers clearing rubble after Russia struck the city with 22 missiles, damaging multi-story apartment buildings. People remain trapped under the debris.
"In Lviv right now, residents are passing bricks hand to hand alongside rescuers," Zelenska wrote. “They are helping clear the rubble of an apartment building faster after it was destroyed by another Russian strike overnight. As I write this, nine people have been pulled from the ruins. The oldest victim is 93. A 6-year-old boy has two broken legs. But the search continues — there are still people under what's left of the building.”
Russia attacked Ukraine overnight with 74 missiles and 284 drones of various types, striking the Kyiv, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Lviv, Vinnytsia, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Poltava oblasts.
"This is one more proof that Russian crimes and the intent to kill know no borders," Zelenska added. “One more proof that this crime, like the missiles themselves, must be stopped in time — while everyone is still alive. All our partners know how to help, because we've been saying this for a long time. Help us shoot down Russian killing machines. Protect not just us — yourselves too.”
Massive attack on Ukraine on July 30
Overnight into July 30, Russia attacked Ukraine with 358 aerial assets, including 284 drones — Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas types, along with decoy drones known as Parodiya — and 74 missiles, including Tsirkon, Iskander-M, and Kh-101 types.
Explosions were reported in multiple Ukrainian cities during the attack. Lviv was struck by 22 missiles, including a direct hit on an apartment building on Vyhovskoho Street; the missile's warhead failed to detonate and was successfully defused. Other apartment buildings in the city were also damaged. At least 34 people were injured, including three children, and search operations continued under the rubble.
Russia also struck the outskirts of the city of Kryvyi Rih with ballistic missiles overnight, with a direct hit on a private home belonging to a large family killing three children and three adults.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the overnight Russian attack killed a total of eight people across Ukraine. A powerful explosion was also heard overnight in Poland, where a crater and debris were later found in a field. Ukraine's Foreign Ministry said a Russian Kh-101 missile had entered Polish territory overnight.
