Orban vows ‘no support’ for Kyiv amid Hungarian minority rights dispute

Hungary will not support Kyiv on any international issues unless Ukraine restores “the former rights for ethnic Hungarians on its territory,” Hungarian PM Viktor Orban said on Sept. 25, quoted by The Guardian.
Back in 2017, Hungary announced that it would block Ukraine’s closer integration with the European Union over the issue of ethnic Hungarians in Zakarpattia Oblast.
At that time, Ukraine had passed an education law that mandated Ukrainian as the primary language to be used in schools across the country.
The law provides for one or more school subjects to be taught in multiple languages, including English and other official languages of the European Union.
Nevertheless, Hungary claims that the law violates the rights of approximately 150,000 ethnic Hungarians to use their native language in Ukrainian schools.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
