US overestimates military aid to Ukraine by $6.2 billion, reports Pentagon

A recent audit revealed an overestimation of $6.2 billion in U.S. military aid provided to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said deputy press secretary at the Pentagon, Sabrina Singh, on June 20.
"We have confirmed that for FY23, the final calculation is $3.6 billion, and for FY22 it is $2.6 billion, for a combined total of $6.2 billion," Singh said.
Singh said the accounting error occurred because there was a significant number of cases when the United States transferred weaponry and military officials calculated its value based on the value of replacing the weapon, instead of the value of the actual weapon.
“To address this issue, the Pentagon has now received new guidance on estimating the cost of equipment provided to Ukraine to ensure that we use the most accurate accounting methods," she said.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced on June 20 that the United States will unveil a new military aid package for Ukraine on June 21.
On June 13, the United States announced a new military aid package to Ukraine, which included the Bradley infantry fighting vehicles and the Stryker armored fighting vehicles.
