Poland to install electronic barrier along Ukraine border

Poland plans to equip more than 100 kilometers of its border with Ukraine with a new electronic security system that will include monitoring equipment and motion sensors, supplementing existing physical barriers, Polskie Radio reported on Sept. 15, citing Polish Border Guard Brig. Gen. Wioleta Górzkowska.
The electronic protection will be installed along two sections. The first project covers 69 kilometers within the area of responsibility of the Nadbużański Border Guard unit, while the second covers an additional 43 kilometers of land border in the area of the Bieszczady unit.
In total, the sections slated for the new systems will span roughly 112 kilometers.
At the same time, Poland plans to upgrade border security along its frontiers with Russia and Belarus. Planned measures include installing observation towers equipped with optoelectronic equipment, along with drone-detection systems on the Belarusian side.
