Poland scrambled fighter jets overnight as Russia launched a large-scale missile and drone attack across Ukraine on September 8, according to the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces.
“Due to the activity of Russian long-range aviation launching strikes on Ukrainian territory, military aviation operations have begun in Polish airspace,” the Polish military stated.
The Polish military noted that it deployed all necessary forces and placed its air defense and radar reconnaissance systems on high alert.
“These measures are precautionary and aimed at ensuring the security of our airspace, especially in areas bordering the threatened zones,” the Polish military added.
Russian forces fired a barrage of drones, ballistic missiles, and cruise missiles at Ukraine overnight on September 8, damaging high-rises, commercial buildings, and warehouses across five districts in Kyiv. At least six people were wounded in the attack.
Explosions also shook Odesa.
