Russian authorities claim Ukrainian forces cross border into Kursk

Russian authorities and state media reported an alleged cross-border raid by Ukrainian forces into Russia’s Kursk Oblast, along with fighting in border areas, on Aug. 6.
"Fighting continues in several sectors of the state border," with the main events taking place near the border settlement of Sudzha, the Russian ASTRA telegram channel reported, citing so-called "military commanders."
According to them, the Ukrainian forces conducted "serious artillery drills" and plan to "increase the pressure" by attacking in the areas of Nikolayev-Darine - Darine and Sudzha - Goholivka.
About 100 armed men in heavy vehicles allegedly crossed the border around 9 a.m. EET, the pro-Kremlin Mash telegram channel claimed, echoing similar reports from the pro-war Russian public account Dva majora.
The acting governor of Kursk Oblast, Alexei Smirnov, reported on the alleged “attempts made of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to break through into the territory of Kursk Oblast,” which were reportedly prevented by Russian border guards.
Smirnov also mentioned an alleged attack by a Ukrainian drone on a car at the Glushkovo railway station, injuring two people, and warned of a missile threat in the Sudzha and Glushkov districts.
Five people were reportedly injured and several residential buildings damaged in an overnight drone attack on Sudzha, he also claimed. Twenty-six of them were reportedly intercepted over Kursk Oblast.
Earlier, on March 12, Russian volunteers from the Freedom of Russia Legion (LSR), the Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK), and the Siberian Battalion announced a new operation in Russia’s Belgorod and Kursk oblasts, claiming to liberate Russia from dictatorship and to thwart a new offensive by the Russian army.
