da Silva warned on Dec. 4. The Brazilian president was seemingly suggesting
that Putin could be arrested under the outstanding warrant from the
International Criminal Court.
“If Putin comes to the G20 meeting in Brazil, he knows what could happen,” Lula said during a press conference in Berlin with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, quoted by Brazilian news outlet Terra.
Brazil has ratified the Rome Statute and is obliged to enforce warrants issued by the ICC.
On March 17, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Putin on suspicion of committing war crimes related to the deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia.
Putin now faces arrest in 123 countries that have ratified the Rome Statute.
