The Russian Navy has placed additional naval
mines on the approaches to Ukrainian
ports in the Black Sea, UK Ambassador to the UN, Barbara Woodward, said on July
25, as reported by The Guardian.
Woodward noted that the UK has information indicating that the Russian military may expand its attacks on Ukrainian grain export-related infrastructure facilities, including attacks on civilian ships in the Black Sea.
"Our information also indicates that Russia has laid additional sea mines in the approaches to Ukrainian ports," Woodward said.
“We agree with the U.S. assessment that this is a coordinated effort to justify and lay blame on Ukraine for any attacks against civilian ships in the Black Sea.”
She added that UK PM Rishi Sunak has already informed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy about this during a phone conversation earlier on July 25.
Previously, UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly warned that the Russia may carry out attacks on civilian ships in the Black Sea following Moscow's exit from the "grain agreement."
Meanwhile, U.S. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller announced that after Russia's withdrawal from the grain agreement, there are concerns that the Kremlin may be preparing a false flag operation in the Black Sea.
