Russia to focus on Bakhmut and Slovyansk now, says Luhansk governor
As Russia gets closer to attaining complete control over Luhansk Oblast, it will now likely focus on advancing towards Bakhmut and Slovyansk in Donetsk Oblast, head of Luhansk regional administration Serhiy Hayday told Ukrainian broadcasters on July 6.
Hayday also noted that Luhansk Oblast is not entirely occupied by Russian troops yet – fighting is still ongoing at the regional boundary, with invaders sustaining significant losses.
It took Moscow four months to seize most of Luhansk Oblast from Ukraine, advancing mere 30 kilometers, with concentrated artillery fire support, said the official.
He added that precise Ukrainian strikes keep successfully targeting Russian ammunition depots behind the frontlines, making further offensives ever more difficult.
