Russia to issue passports in occupied areas of Kharkiv Oblast
Moscow will soon start issuing passports to Ukrainians in Russia-occupied areas of Kharkiv Oblast, Russian news agency Ria-Novosti reported on July 28.
According to the message, corresponding preparations are already underway.
“(Passports) will be issued in Kharkiv Oblast, meaning that people won’t have to travel anywhere else,” the message said.
“We are currently starting to compile a database of people who apply for Russian citizenship.”
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin decreed on July 11 that all Ukrainians will be eligible for expedited Russian citizenship procedures.
Russian forces in occupied areas of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia oblasts started issuing locals with Russian passports on June 11.
