Russia incurs 85% of losses on Eastern Ukraine front - AFU spokesman
Russia suffers 85% of troop and equipment losses on the Eastern Ukrainian front, Nazar Voloshyn, a spokesman for the Khortytsia Operational and Strategic Troop Grouping said in a comment to the Ukrainian media LIGA.net on April 25.
The Russian army bears significant losses in manpower and equipment during offensive operations, Voloshyn said. He emphasized the role of minefields and drones in inflicting substantial damage, as they effectively halt Russian light-armored and armored vehicles.
Tavrian Air Assault Brigade destroyed over 300 units of Russian equipment during six months of fighting on one of the fronts, Voloshyn said.
"That's at least three enemy brigades!" he said.
Eastern front situation
The situation on the eastern front has worsened significantly, reported Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, on April 13.
Further reports from the DeepState monitoring portal on the same day indicated that Russian forces had taken the village of Bohdanivka and made advances near Chasiv Yar. However, the Defense Ministry has refuted claims that Bohdanivka has been occupied.
General Syrskyi later disclosed that the Russian military leadership is pressing its forces to secure Chasiv Yar in Donetsk Oblast by May 9.
Russian forces are making “attempts to capture the village of Ivanivske and the outskirts of Bohdanivka at any cost” in an attempt to break through to the town of Chasiv Yar in Donetsk Oblast, Voloshyn said on April 23.
He previously reported that about 20-25 thousand Russian soldiers were attempting to storm Chasiv Yar and the surrounding areas.
