One dead, several injured as Russian rockets target Sumy and Kharkiv oblasts
A 40-year-old man was killed and two others were injured after Russia shelled the city of Vorozhba in Sumy Oblast using multiple rocket launchers (MLRS), Sumy Regional Administration head, Ihor Kalchenko, reported on Telegram on Feb. 5.
The Russian military reportedly shelled the town at around 5:00 p.m. EET. Eight explosions were heard.
"A 40-year-old man killed, his mother and another person were also injured," Kalchenko wrote.
Preliminary reports indicate damage caused to five residential buildings, sheds, and power and Internet grids. Emergency services are working on-site.
Three people were rescued and one person is reportedly still trapped under the rubble of a destroyed three-story hotel in Zolochiv, Kharkiv Oblast after the Russians targeted the settlement, Kharkiv governor Oleh Synehubov reported.
A store facade also caught fire. Emergency services are on the scene to clean-up.
