Ukrainian Air Force captures dramatic footage of Shahed drone downing

Ukrainian Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk released a video showing the downing of a Shahed drone on Ukraine's eastern front during a major Russian attack on July 31.
The footage captures the drone falling and its warhead exploding on impact with the ground.
"Remember, even after being hit, enemy missiles and drones continue to pose a serious threat!" Oleshchuk said.
The attack on July 31 was one of the most significant since the Russian invasion began, marking the largest assault on Kyiv in 2024. Air raid sirens sounded in several regions throughout the night, and explosions were reported in the capital and surrounding areas due to the active engagement of air defense systems.
The Air Force reported that all 89 Shahed drones that Russia launched in the attack on Ukraine were shot down, along with a Kh-59 missile.
"The enemy deployed the same number of drones on New Year's Eve, Jan. 1, 2024," Oleshchuk said.
