Five dead as Russia targets children's dialysis facility in Kyiv's Okhmatdyt Hospital
Russia's attack on Okhmatdyt Children's Hospital in Kyiv killed five and injured four people, Ukraine's Internal Affairs Ministry reported on July 8.
Russia's strike targeted a building where children were undergoing dialysis, Health Minister Viktor Lyashko said on national television.
"We see the building where the toxicology department was located, where children were undergoing dialysis, and where the laboratory operated," he said.
When asked about the presence of children at the time of the attack, Lyashko confirmed, "Of course, they were."
"This facility housed intensive care units and artificial kidney equipment; it represented their final hope for survival as they underwent critical dialysis procedures," he said.
Due to the lack of electricity, water, and oxygen in the affected buildings, everyone is being evacuated.
"We are relocating all individuals to other hospitals," Lyashko said.
Russia carried out mass missile attacks targeting Kyiv, Kryvyi Rih, Dnipro, and other Ukrainian cities on July 8. Ten people were reported dead in the capital.
