17 injured, including 2 critically, after Russian missiles strike central Kharkiv — photos
17 people were injured, including two critically, after Russia used S-300 missiles in two strikes on Kharkiv overnight on Jan. 16, reported Kharkiv governor Oleh Synehubov on Telegram.
13 civilians remain in hospital following the attacks.
The facades of about 20 multi-story residential buildings were damaged in the Kholodnohirskyi district [of Kharkiv], a private medical facility was affected, and 14 cars were destroyed, said Synehubov.
The missile strikes came from the direction of Russia’s adjacent Belgorod Oblast.
“As a result of the shelling, 17 civilians were injured: 16 women aged between 38 and 90 years and a 31-year-old man,” wrote Synehubov. “Three of them received medical assistance on the spot. Currently, 13 injured are in medical facilities. A 43-year-old woman is in extremely critical condition with a severe penetrating injury. A 39-year-old woman is also in critical condition. Others are in moderate and mild conditions.”
Rescue workers saved a woman and evacuated 30 people. Emergency rescue operations are continuing with 13 units of equipment and 70 State Emergency Service personnel.
The city was hit, presumably, by two S-300 missiles, added Synegubov.
