19-year-old woman delivers bomb to AFU soldiers, disguised as 'volunteer aid'
A young woman gave Ukrainian soldiers an explosive-laden scooter disguised as “volunteer aid” in Kharkiv, killing one soldier and severely wounding another, the National Police reported on June 25.
A 19-years old woman carried out the terrorist attack on orders from the Russian intelligence services. She was charged under Part 3 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (terrorist act), which carries a sentence of life imprisonment.
Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) said the attack took place on June 20. The aggressor recruited the young Kharkiv woman via Telegram. She later received instructions for making an improvised explosive device at home, which she planted in the scooter.
The woman arranged with Ukrainian soldiers to deliver the “volunteer” scooter near a local café. Once two soldiers arrived, Russian intelligence remotely detonated the bomb.
According to the SBU, the suspect attempted to go into hiding after the attack but was detained within hours.
Law enforcement officers seized unused components for another explosive device, as well as a mobile phone containing evidence of her cooperation with Russian agents.
