Drones hit Tambov Gunpowder Plant, halting production
Drones struck the Tambov Gunpowder Plant in Kotovsk, Russia, overnight into June 11, halting production at a key military-industrial facility, Andriy Kovalenko, head of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council’s Center for Countering Disinformation, confirmed on Telegram.
Operations at the plant, a major supplier of explosives for Russia’s military, have been suspended.
The facility produces gunpowder for firearms, artillery, and rocket systems, as well as nitrocellulose used in explosives and other specialized products.
Since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the plant’s output has significantly increased.
Located in Kotovsk, Tambov Oblast, the plant was targeted in a drone attack that caused a fire, as confirmed by the regional governor. Local reports noted explosions in the area overnight.
The Tambov Gunpowder Plant has been repeatedly hit by Ukrainian drones, with prior attacks in November 2023, July 2024, January 2025, and May 29, 2025.
