Trump stated that Ukraine and Russia have agreed to refrain from attacking
each other’s energy infrastructure.
He made the statement in a post on his Truth Social platform on Sept. 14, reiterating his previous claim that the Russo–Ukrainian war is to blame for surging diesel prices.
“Ukraine has agreed not to hit Russian Energy targets. Russia has agreed to do, likewise!” Trump said.
“The World’s Diesel price rise is mostly caused by the Russia/Ukraine War, not Iran. President DJT.”
Shortly afterwards, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Kyiv is prepared to halt strikes on critical Russian infrastructure if Ukraine’s partners can ensure the aggressor has a “genuine willingness” to refrain from attacking Ukraine’s energy system, critical infrastructure, and food supplies.
“Ukraine has proposed that its partners help secure an agreement with Russia that would stop the destruction of critical infrastructure,” Zelenskyy wrote on Telegram.
“Food supplies, energy and other elements essential to basic life must be protected, while Russian strikes are aimed primarily at these areas.”
On Sept. 13, Trump said Ukraine should stop attacking Russian energy facilities because the strikes were contributing to diesel shortages.
“Mr. Zelensky has to do one thing. He has to stop knocking
out diesel fuel in Russia,” the president told reporters during a visit to the
Irish Open golf tournament. “Let him go after targets, but not diesel fuel,
because he's causing a shortage of diesel.”
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
