Ukrainians invent ‘invisibility cloak’ to shield defenders from enemy drones, thermal imagers
Ukraine has created an invisibility cloak that will make Ukrainian soldiers invisible to Russian thermal imagers and drones with thermal imaging cameras, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov said on Telegram on Oct. 4.
The cloak blocks heat radiation and makes the military invisible to the enemy. This can help Ukrainian snipers or Special Operations Forces groups performing combat missions, Fedorov said, including in his post a video of three Ukrainian soldiers, one of whom is cloaked and barely visible.
Fedorov noted that the garment is compact and lightweight, weighing up to 2.5 kg. It has high protection against rain and sleet. In addition, the cloak is fireproof and protects against high temperatures.
"The invisibility cloak is just one of the developments that will help save the lives of our military at the front," Fedorov said.
He also urged those working on other innovative defense projects to submit them through the Brave1 platform.
