Ukraine hits six aircraft at Rostov airfield, key unit at Yaroslavl refinery

An An-12 aircraft, two An-26 aircraft and three helicopters
were hit in an attack
on a military airfield in Russia’s Rostov-on-Don, President Volodymyr
Zelenskyy said on Sept.
17.
Zelenskyy also confirmed a strike on the Yaroslavl oil
refinery and thanked Ukrainian troops who “make Russia feel the war every day.”
“Tonight, a joint operation by the SBU, Unmanned Systems
Forces, HUR and Foreign Intelligence Service struck the Yaroslavl refinery. The
Security Service also struck the military airfield in Rostov with precision —
hits on an An-12, two An-26s and three more helicopters have been confirmed.
There are also good results in the Black Sea,” Zelenskyy said.
The president stressed that Ukraine responds to Russian
aggression every day.
“Russia must choose peace,” Zelenskyy said.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also confirmed that two An-26
transport aircraft, one An-12 transport aircraft and three helicopters were hit
in an attack on the Rostov-on-Don (Central) airfield in Russia’s Rostov Oblast.
Confirming the strike on the Slavneft-YANOS oil refinery in
Russia’s Yaroslavl Oblast, the General Staff said the AVT-3 primary oil
processing unit was hit and caught fire.
Slavneft-YANOS, part of PJSC Slavneft, is one of Russia’s
largest oil refining businesses. It has a capacity of about 15 million metric
tons of oil a year, the General Staff said.
The business, which helps meet the needs of the Russian
military, handles the full oil-refining cycle and produces gasoline, diesel and
jet fuel, fuel oil, bitumen and other petroleum products.
Earlier on Sept. 17, the Astra Telegram channel, citing its
own OSINT analysis, reported that drones had carried out a large-scale
overnight attack on the Russian city of Rostov-on-Don.
A section of the military airfield used for aircraft parking
was believed to be burning after the strike, the report said.
A strike on the Slavneft-YANOS refinery in Yaroslavl was
also reported. Local authorities also acknowledged the strike on the refinery.
