Ukraine’s SBU Security Service destroyed Russia’s prized
Solntsepyok flamethrower system on the Zaporizhzhya front, releasing a video of the strike on Aug. 3.
The Solntsepyok is a rare target on the front lines. The
fully armed system, ready to strike, was detected during reconnaissance.
The crew of the TOS-1A Solntsepyok was also eliminated,
according to the SBU.
According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed
Forces, since the start of the full-scale invasion, the aggressor country
Russia has lost 1,135 MLRS units in Ukraine, including one system in the last
24 hours.
The Solntsepyok is a family of Russian heavy flamethrower
systems with a caliber of 220 mm. It fires incendiary or thermobaric munitions
and is designed to disable lightly armored and automotive equipment, set fire
to and destroy structures and buildings, and eliminate personnel.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
