General Zaluzhnyi breaks silence after bug was found in his office
A surveillance device was found in the office of Chief of Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, the General Staff announced on Dec. 18.
The equipment was discovered during a routine inspection on Dec. 17.
“The surveillance device was installed in the offices designated for the work of the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the employees of the apparatus providing support for his activities,” the General Staff said.
In a comment to RBC-Ukraine, Zaluzhnyi said that the office was not his regular place of work, as he works in several locations.
“I’ll tell you this: this is the room I was supposed to use today. I haven’t been there (in the office) for a long time,” Zaluzhnyi said, commenting on the incident for the first time.
The day before, several media outlets reported that surveillance devices were found in the office of the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces. The SBU subsequently confirmed the report.
